Rabbi Efrat Rotem

Efrat is the head rabbi at Kehilat Halev, a reform synagogue in central Tel Aviv that combines Jewish tradition with contemporary religious and cultural content. Prior to being ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Efrat received her MA in Literature and BA in Sociology from Tel Aviv University. She is also an activist in LGBT and feminist causes, as well as in the field of Jewish pluralism in Israel. She is former chairperson of Hoshen, an educational and outreach center for the LGBT community in Tel Aviv.

Efrat teaches the Tikkun Olam group a course on critical readings in Jewish and non-Jewish texts.
