Coexistence Track Overview

The Tikkun Olam Coexistence Track offers you the chance to volunteer in a range of different organizations and projects in the diverse and complex community of Jaffa.
The Coexistence Track:

  • Focuses on a local arena of the larger issues facing Jews and Arabs in Israel today.
  • Emphasizes coexistence, not conflict.
  • Explores the complexity of the idea of coexistence in the contemporary context. Although we will not be able to solve the problems of coexistence alone, we seek to affect positive change on a local level for all populations in Jaffa, while striving to be part of a discussion to promote social justice on a larger scale.
  • Is non-politically affiliated, and does not take stands on political issues. The program seeks to provide a variety of perspectives and ideas in order to give participants the tools to shape their own opinions.
  • Seeks to strengthen the bonds between Jews in Israel and Jews in the Diaspora, and explore the idea of "Jewish Peoplehood," as well as the connection of Jews to the land of Israel.
  • Takes inspiration for its activities from the humanistic aspects of the Jewish tradition.
